Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) is a 501(c)(4) organization, representing eight separately incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates throughout California on statewide governmental issues. We are one of 21 state public affairs offices of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

PPAC follows state and federal legislation in a number of public policy arenas and promotes education, counseling and clinical services in the fields of reproductive health care and family planning. We monitor administrative, legislative and regulatory actions, including statewide and local initiatives. PPAC also engages in political activity as allowed by law and provides technical assistance to affiliates regarding government health care programs.

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California has watched with growing concern over the last several years as more and more families turn to Planned Parenthood when they lose their jobs or health insurance.

It is clear that now – more than ever – Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is a key part of the state’s health care safety net. And, since elected officials play pivotal roles in ensuring state funding for these important services, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California has a compelling interest in the policy positions of candidates for office.

In deciding whether to support a candidate for public office, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) considers a candidate’s positions on the full range of issues that impact the women and families we serve, including abortion, contraception, sexuality education, and funding for reproductive health services.

Planned Parenthood

Since its founding, Planned Parenthood’s mission has been to provide high quality reproductive health care and education such as affordable birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, treatment of sexual transmitted infections (STIs), abortion services, prenatal care, well-child visits and age-appropriate, medically accurate sexuality education.

Planned Parenthood health centers across California proudly serve close to a million patients each year. Many clients come from underserved communities where access to health services is limited.
